چکیده

The AChE inhibitory activity of alkaloid extracts and compounds has been in the focus research on plants Amaryllidoideae subfamily since approval galanthamine 2001 by FDA for treatment mild to moderate Alzheimer's disease. A small fraction huge biodiversity producing Amaryllidaceae alkaloids studied as a source inhibitors. Less than 20% known have tested vitro their ability inhibit AChE. Galanthamine, lycorine haemanthamine are scaffolds semi-synthesis potent In last years, silico drug optimization synthesis dual-binding studies other also provoked interest researchers years. aim this article is provide comprehensive review from covering literature two decades.

Wild Argentinian Amaryllidaceae, a new renewable source of the acetylcholinesterase inhibitor galanthamine and other alkaloids.

The Amaryllidaceae family is well known for its pharmacologically active alkaloids. An important approach to treat Alzheimer’s disease involves the inhibition of the enzyme acetylcholinesterase (AChE). Galanthamine, an Amaryllidaceae alkaloid, is an effective, selective, reversible, and competitive AchE inhibitor. This work was aimed at studying the alkaloid composition of four wild Argentinian...

Amaryllidaceae Alkaloids as Potential Glycogen Synthase Kinase-3β Inhibitors.

Glycogen synthase kinase-3β (GSK-3β) is a multifunctional serine/threonine protein kinase that was originally identified as an enzyme involved in the control of glycogen metabolism. It plays a key role in diverse physiological processes including metabolism, the cell cycle, and gene expression by regulating a wide variety of well-known substances like glycogen synthase, tau-protein, and β-caten...

Cytotoxic agents of the crinane series of amaryllidaceae alkaloids.

In the alkaloid galanthamine, the plant family Amaryllidaceae has endowed the pharmaceutical community with a potent and selective inhibitor of the enzyme acetylcholinestersae (AChE), of prominence in the chemotherapeutic approach towards motor neuron diseases. Following on the commercial success of this prescription drug in the treatment of Alzheimer's disease, it is anticipated that other dru...

Two new amaryllidaceae alkaloids from the bulbs of Lycoris radiata.

Two new Amaryllidaceae alkaloids, named lycoranines A (1) and B (2), were isolated from the bulbs of Lycoris radiata. Their structures were elucidated on the basis of extensive spectroscopic analysis. Compound 2 was a new-type alkaloid, which provided a new insight into the biosynthesis of alkaloids in Amaryllidaceae plants.
